Lead Engineering Manager

Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineering Manager to lead and scale our engineering teams within a specific area building a high-performance trading platform. You will be responsible for people leadership, delivery excellence, and technical direction across a hybrid infrastructure.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, infrastructure, and business, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and scalability in a latency-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple engineering teams (40–60+ engineers)
• Own delivery, quality, and technical outcomes across your engineering area
• Partner closely with Product, Trading, and Senior Engineering leadership to translate business requirements into technical execution
• Drive engineering strategy and cross-team alignment across the area
• Coordinate architectural decisions and their implementation across teams
• Ensure high availability, performance, and observability of production systems
• Own the area roadmap and resource allocation across teams
• Identify and address systemic technical and organizational risks and ensure the long-term scalability and health of the engineering area
• Hire, onboard, mentor, and grow Engineering Managers and support the development of engineering teams
• Foster a culture of ownership, customer first, and result-oriented

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 3+ years in an Engineering Manager role, with experience managing Engineering Managers or Team Leads
• Background in financial systems, trading platforms, or other high-reliability domains
• Strong understanding of backend systems, ideally with hands-on experience in Ruby
• Experience operating systems on AWS (EC2, networking, security, monitoring)
• Experience working with on-premise infrastructure and hybrid environments
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies
• Familiarity with observability tools (metrics, logging, alerting) and performance monitoring

Will be a plus

• Experience working with on-premise infrastructure and hybrid environments
• Hands-on experience in Ruby
• Experience with low-latency or high-throughput systems
• Exposure to trading, fintech, or market-data platforms
• Experience scaling teams and systems
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools
